|My Sister Loves Easter|
by Cheryl Short
“For he chose us in him before the creation of the world to be holy and blameless in his sight…”
My sister loves Easter. She always has. Since we were little girls it has always been her favorite holiday. She loves the resurrection story. The promise fulfilled.
I love Easter too. But Christmas has always been my favorite holiday. It’s harder to find its true meaning amongst the trappings of the season, but when I find that quiet moment between the hustle and the bustle, I am struck by the promise made.
With full knowledge of the sacrifice that was to come years later on that hill at Calvary, God chose us. He willingly chose to send Jesus to us. For us.
And in the sending he made the promise. The promise of a Savior. The promise that would be fulfilled years later at Easter.
Making the promise while knowing what was to come, has always seemed the greater cause for awe and wonder and more deserving of my biggest possible thank you.
My sister loves Easter,
but I love Christmas.
