Why is this earthly life so hard?
Maybe it’s difficult so we don’t get too comfortable here. Maybe it’s so we will understand that we are hopeless in ourselves and we need a Savior. Maybe it’s so we will yearn for heaven and keep our eyes fixed there.
But, in the meantime, we face illnesses and surgeries and financial hardships and children who test their parents and alienation or ridicule because of our faith. The list goes on and on.
I think most of us are desperate for peace.
There were two artists who were commissioned to do a painting of peace. The first portrayed a sunny sky, green grass, and cattle grazing. The second drew a picture of a stormy sky, trees bending in the wind, and you could almost feel the cold and damp weather. But, in the cleft of a tree was a tiny bird, protected from the storm. He snuggled in until the storm passed.
Isn’t it just like God to protect us from the storms of life? He is the ultimate need-meeter.
God, teach us how to nestle, not wrestle, and snuggle, not struggle. May we learn to seek you and thank you in advance for
